Three types of smoke detectors are available on the market – ionization, optical and heat-detecting. For effective protection, these types can be combined and integrated into one unit.
Ionization smoke detectors measure the electrical resistance in the air and react to both invisible and visible smoke. They are considered superior in sudden or explosive fires.
Optical smoke detectors have an advanced photocell system with infrared light sources. Optical detectors work best in the detection of slow, smouldering fires with visible smoke particles.
Heat detectors only react to heat and not to combustion particles, which results in a late detection of fires. In spaces where natural combustion normally occurs, however, heat detectors can be used, though the range of application is limited.
The Marelco range includes all types of smoke detectors. With our extensive experience and expertise, we can also suggest suitable combinations for optimal fire protection for any situation.
